TLDR Nearly 20% of recovered COVID-19 patients have skin issues, with hair loss and rashes being common.
This systematic review examines dermatological complications in post-COVID-19 syndrome, analyzing data from 626,128 patients across 44 studies. It finds that nearly 20% of recovered patients experience skin issues, with hair loss affecting up to 50% and skin rashes up to 27.4%. Other conditions include pruritus, subcutaneous nodules, dermatitis, edema, and pigmentation changes. The review highlights a significant prevalence of autoantibodies, especially in females and those with severe COVID-19 histories, and emphasizes the impact on quality of life. It calls for targeted therapeutic strategies and further research to better understand and manage these complications.
