Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate, Insulin Resistance, and Ovarian Volume Assessment in Greek Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
July 2018
TLDR Higher DHEA-S levels are linked to smaller ovarian volume in women with PCOS.
The study investigated the association between dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S), insulin resistance, and ovarian volume in Greek women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). It included 321 women aged 17-35 who met the Rotterdam criteria for PCOS. The study involved clinical evaluations, biochemical and hormonal analyses, and gynecological ultrasounds. Results showed a significant negative correlation between DHEA-S levels and the mean volume of the right ovary, suggesting that higher DHEA-S levels might be associated with smaller ovarian volume in women with PCOS.
