Comprehensive Case Analysis: Diagnosing And Managing Myositis In Newly Diagnosed Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients In Indonesia

An 18-year-old female in Indonesia with newly diagnosed Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) presented with symptoms including bilateral thigh pain, fever, and diarrhea. She had been diagnosed with SLE a month prior, experiencing joint pain, malar rash, hair loss, and hyperpigmented lesions. Laboratory tests showed elevated transaminase levels, positive ANA, decreased complement levels, and raised creatine kinase. A muscle biopsy confirmed myositis. Treatment with steroids and hydroxychloroquine led to symptom resolution by the eighth day of hospitalization. This case underscores the importance of early diagnosis and management of myositis, a rare SLE manifestation, to achieve positive outcomes.
