TLDR Early diagnosis and treatment of myositis in SLE patients lead to better outcomes.
An 18-year-old female with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) in Indonesia presented with symptoms including bilateral thigh pain, fever, and diarrhea. Diagnosed with SLE a month prior, she also experienced joint pain, malar rash, hair loss, and hyperpigmented lesions. Laboratory tests showed elevated transaminase levels, positive ANA, decreased complement levels, and raised creatine kinase, leading to a muscle biopsy that confirmed myositis. Treatment with steroids and hydroxychloroquine, along with supportive therapy, resulted in symptom resolution by the eighth day of hospitalization. This case underscores the importance of early diagnosis and management of myositis in SLE patients to ensure positive outcomes.
