TLDR Dienogest is safer and has fewer side effects than GnRH analogues for treating endometriosis.
This meta-analysis compared the efficacy and safety of Dienogest and GnRH analogues in treating endometriosis, involving 1,219 patients across eight randomized controlled trials. Both treatments were equally effective in managing pain, dysmenorrhea, and dyspareunia. However, Dienogest showed advantages by significantly reducing recurrence rates and hot flushes, and protecting against bone mineral density loss, although it increased the risk of irregular vaginal bleeding. Overall, Dienogest was found to have fewer side effects than GnRH analogues, making it a safer treatment option for endometriosis.
