TLDR Higher protein intake might be linked to hair loss.
A transversal case-control study was conducted with 42 patients aged 20 to 35 years who had diffuse alopecia, compared to a control group of 230 individuals without hair and nail disorders. The study evaluated dietary intake of various nutrients using a 3-day method and analyzed the data with SPSS software. The results indicated that only protein intake was directly associated with alopecia, with an odds ratio of 1.5 (1.06 - 2.3) and a p-value of 0.02, suggesting a potential link between protein consumption and the occurrence of alopecia.
