TLDR Dock5 is important for skin healing and could help treat diabetic wounds.
The study investigated the role of Dedicator of Cytokinesis 5 (DOCK5) in keratinocyte function and diabetic wound healing, involving six diabetic foot ulcer patients and six healthy participants, along with mouse models. DOCK5 was found to be crucial for keratinocyte migration, proliferation, and adhesion, which are essential for wound healing. In diabetic conditions, DOCK5 expression was reduced, leading to impaired healing. However, restoring DOCK5 expression improved wound healing by enhancing extracellular matrix remodeling and keratinocyte function. The study suggested that targeting DOCK5 could be a potential therapeutic strategy for improving wound healing in diabetic patients.
