TLDR DPCP may be safe for treating alopecia during pregnancy, but more research is needed.
This document presents a case study of a 23-year-old female with alopecia totalis who used diphenylcyclopropenone (DPCP) during her second and third pregnancies, despite medical advice to discontinue. DPCP, a topical immunotherapy, is typically discouraged during pregnancy due to limited safety data. However, the patient experienced significant hair regrowth with no adverse effects or birth defects in her children, who had high APGAR scores. This case suggests potential safety of DPCP during pregnancy, though further studies are needed to confirm its safety profile.
