TLDR Acinetobacter strain A1-4-2 can safely clean water pollutants.
This study introduces Acinetobacter strain A1-4-2, potentially a novel species, isolated from a hairy crab farming base, which shows promise for bioremediation of aquatic pollutants. Metagenomic analysis of 12,000 datasets indicates its widespread presence in environments rich in organic matter. Strain A1-4-2 can degrade various substrates, including hydrocarbons and aromatic compounds, and exhibits limited antibiotic resistance. Zebrafish toxicity assays confirm its biosafety for environmental release. The strain's potential for genetic manipulation could enhance its pollutant degradation capabilities, offering a viable strategy for ecological restoration.
