Effect of Scalp Micro Pigmentation(SMP) Satisfaction on Psychological Well-Bing : The Double Mediating Effects of Appearance Satisfaction and Perceived Physical Attractiveness
June 2026
This study investigated the effects of scalp micropigmentation (SMP) on psychological well-being, with a focus on appearance satisfaction and perceived physical attractiveness as mediators. A survey of 454 adults who underwent SMP showed that satisfaction with SMP significantly enhanced both appearance satisfaction and perceived physical attractiveness. These improvements, in turn, positively impacted psychological well-being. However, SMP satisfaction did not have a direct effect on psychological well-being; instead, the relationship was fully mediated by appearance satisfaction and perceived physical attractiveness. This suggests that SMP can improve psychological well-being by enhancing appearance satisfaction for individuals experiencing hair loss.
