TLDR Hemp seed biomaterials may reduce hair loss and improve hair growth.
The study found that germinated hemp seed extract (GHSE) and exosomes derived from germinated hemp seeds significantly upregulated alopecia-preventing genes and downregulated alopecia-activating markers in hair follicle dermal papilla stem cells (HFDPSCs) and CD8+ T cells under stress conditions induced by dihydrotestosterone (DT). Exosomes were particularly effective, showing higher activation of HFDPSC differentiation and greater efficacy in preventing alopecia compared to hemp seed oil. These findings suggest that GHSE and exosomes from germinated hemp seeds could be potent biomaterials for alopecia treatment with minimal side effects, although further in vivo research is needed.
