TLDR Moderate exercise improves skin health, but intense exercise without protection can harm it.
Physical activity (PA) positively impacts skin health by improving blood circulation, enhancing skin cell metabolism, regulating stress, and producing anti-inflammatory compounds. It boosts oxygen and nutrient delivery, leading to a healthier complexion, and increases endorphin production, reducing stress and inflammation. Regular PA also improves sleep, aiding skin cell repair. However, intense exercise or lack of protective measures can harm the skin, causing irritation, redness, and potentially skin cancer. To maximize benefits, it's important to consider individual skin type and use sunscreen, sun-protective clothing, and proper post-exercise skin care. Moderate exercise is beneficial, but intense exercise without protection can worsen skin conditions.
