TLDR 308 nm excimer lamp therapy is effective for alopecia areata but less so for severe cases.
The study evaluates the efficacy of 308 nm excimer lamp therapy for alopecia areata (AA), highlighting its potential as a favorable treatment option due to its good clinical response and fewer adverse effects compared to other therapies. It is particularly beneficial in low-income countries where newer treatments like JAK inhibitors are unavailable. However, the therapy is less effective for patients with extensive hair loss, such as those with alopecia totalis and alopecia universalis, indicating its limitations for severe cases.
