TLDR The Exfoliate-Dissolve-Repair skincare approach may effectively treat keratosis pilaris and reduce the need for corticosteroids.
The study evaluates the efficacy and safety of the Exfoliate-Dissolve-Repair (EDR) skincare approach compared to 0.1% retinoic acid cream in treating keratosis pilaris (KP) in a randomized controlled trial with 72 Chinese participants aged 18 to 35. The EDR strategy combines mechanical exfoliation, chemical dissolution, and barrier restoration to address KP's core pathological features, aiming to improve clinical signs and subjective symptoms. The trial seeks to demonstrate that the EDR approach can effectively disrupt the pathogenic cycle of follicular plugging and inflammation, potentially reducing reliance on corticosteroids and enhancing treatment accessibility. If successful, this non-prescription regimen could set a new standard for KP management.
