TLDR Low-level laser therapy reduces pain, swelling, and improves healing after wisdom tooth removal.
This study assessed the effectiveness of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) in reducing complications after the surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars in 60 participants. Results showed that LLLT significantly enhanced wound healing, reduced pain, and minimized facial swelling compared to the control group. On day 7, 63.3% of patients in the LLLT group had excellent wound healing, while the control group had only good healing. Pain levels were consistently lower in the LLLT group, and it also helped maintain better mouth opening and reduced facial swelling. No adverse effects or cases of dry socket were reported, suggesting that LLLT is a safe and effective adjunct therapy for minimizing post-operative complications in third molar extractions.
