Comparison of Efficacy of Intralesional Triamcinolone Versus 308nm Excimer Laser in the Treatment of Localized Alopecia Areata

This study compared the efficacy of intralesional triamcinolone and 308 nm Excimer laser in treating localized alopecia areata in 92 patients. Group A received the Excimer laser treatment, while Group B received intralesional triamcinolone. After 12 weeks, Group A's mean SALT score decreased from 15.44 to 5.42, and Group B's score decreased from 14.64 to 6.35. The efficacy, defined as more than 75% hair regrowth, was 56.5% for the Excimer laser group and 67.4% for the triamcinolone group. The study concluded that intralesional triamcinolone is more effective than the Excimer laser for this condition.
