TLDR EGFR inhibitors can cause skin issues, but managing them is important for treatment success.
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors were a class of targeted anticancer therapies that aimed to interfere with specific pathways involved in cancer cell proliferation. Despite being less severe than traditional chemotherapy, these inhibitors often caused significant cutaneous side effects due to the expression of EGFR in epithelial tissues, including the skin and hair follicles. These side effects could impact patients' quality of life but were sometimes linked to a better therapeutic response. It was crucial for clinicians to understand and manage these dermatologic toxicities effectively.
