TLDR Complex therapy is more effective for long-term control of scalp abscesses.
The study compared complex therapy to basic antibacterial therapy for treating abscessing perifolliculitis of the scalp (APS) in 40 men aged 18 to 60. The complex therapy group showed significant improvements, including stable regression of inflammatory elements and reduced trichoscopic markers of destruction and fibrosis over 15 months. In contrast, the basic antibacterial therapy group experienced relapses. The study concluded that complex therapy is more effective for long-term control of APS, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive treatment approach to prevent cicatricial alopecia.
