TLDR The mindfulness app had limited benefits for reducing anxiety in adolescents with alopecia areata.
This pilot study investigated the impact of the Breathr mindfulness app on anxiety in adolescents with alopecia areata (AA) over a 3-month period. Alopecia areata is an immune-mediated disease causing non-scarring hair loss and is linked to mental health challenges. While mindfulness-based stress-reduction therapies have shown promise, their efficacy in adolescents is not well-documented. The study found that daily use of the app offered limited benefits for a subset of adolescents with AA and anxiety, indicating that while there may be some positive effects, the overall impact was not substantial.
