Exosome-based therapies in dermatology show promise for skin rejuvenation and treating inflammatory dermatoses, as evidenced by 17 studies conducted between 2020-2025. These studies, which included cohort studies, comparative trials, and case series, primarily used mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes delivered through various methods such as topical application and injections. Improvements were noted in 76% of the studies for conditions like wrinkles, pigmentation, and scars, although adverse events like granulomas and allergic reactions were reported. Despite the potential benefits, the studies were limited by small sample sizes, short follow-up periods, and non-randomized designs, highlighting the need for further research to establish safety and efficacy.
