TLDR Extracellular vesicles show promise in skin treatments but need more research and standardization.
The analysis of 12 clinical studies on extracellular vesicles (EVs), including exosomes, reveals their potential in regenerative skin therapies for conditions like skin aging, acne scars, alopecia, and wound healing. These therapies offer innovative, non-invasive approaches, but face challenges such as production standardization and a lack of large-scale randomized studies. The review also evaluates these studies against the MISEV criteria, providing a comprehensive overview of EV applications in skin therapy and highlighting the need for further research.
