Qualitative Study for Finasteride Detection in the Prostate Delivered by Reversible Inhibition of Sperm Under Guidance – Prostate Hair (RISUG-PH) Vas Injectable Implant

    This study demonstrates that the Reversible Inhibition of Sperm Under Guidance – Prostate Hair (RISUG-PH™) injectable implant effectively delivers finasteride (FIN) to the prostate via the vas deferens, offering a localized drug delivery method. The implant, composed of styrene maleic anhydride, FIN, and dimethyl sulfoxide, was characterized using various techniques, confirming its amorphous nature and the generation of sub-micron-sized particles as drug carriers. The presence of FIN in the prostate was verified in male rats 28 days post-implantation, showing better detection signal intensity compared to the oral route. This confirms the potential of using the vas deferens for targeted prostate drug delivery.
