TLDR Black cumin oil-based carriers improve psoriasis treatment better than standard creams.
This study investigated the use of black cumin oil-based nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) to enhance the therapeutic effect of fluticasone propionate (FP) for psoriasis treatment. The optimized NLCs, characterized by a size of 171.3 nm and a zeta potential of -32.3 mV, demonstrated superior drug deposition in the skin and permeation compared to a marketed cream. In vivo tests on imiquimod-induced psoriatic mice showed a 77% improvement in the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score, along with significant reductions in IL-6 and IL-1α levels, indicating decreased inflammation. The study concluded that the black cumin oil-based NLC formulation provides better skin targeting, penetration, and anti-inflammatory effects than standard treatments.
