    This study explores the connection between alopecia areata (AA) and chronic inflammatory skin disorders like atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, and psoriasis by analyzing gene expression datasets. The findings reveal a significant overlap in gene expression signatures between AA and these disorders, indicating their co-occurrence is not coincidental. Specifically, catecholamine signaling and pigmentation processes may drive AA and vitiligo co-development, while skin barrier defects and immune response dysregulation may underlie AA's comorbidity with atopic dermatitis or psoriasis. This research lays the groundwork for future studies on the interactions between skin, hair follicles, and the immune system in these conditions.
