In a randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 45 women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ginger supplementation (2 g/day for 12 weeks) significantly reduced total testosterone and free androgen index while increasing sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) levels compared to placebo. The ginger group also experienced fewer cases of amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea. These findings suggest that ginger may be an effective natural intervention for managing hyperandrogenism and menstrual irregularities in PCOS, although larger studies are needed to confirm these results.
