It supports cell proliferation, migration, and tissue repair across all wound healing stages. However, in chronic wounds, abnormal glucose metabolism can increase oxidative stress and inflammation, delaying healing. Understanding these processes can lead to new therapeutic strategies, highlighting glucose metabolism as a potential target for improving wound healing outcomes.
