Comparative In Vivo Assessment of Hair-Growth Efficacy Using Nanostructured Lipid Carriers Individually Loaded with Lavender Oil or Tea Seed Oil
January 2026
TLDR Lavender and tea seed oil in nanostructured carriers boost hair growth better than a commercial product.
This study evaluated the hair-growth efficacy of nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) loaded with lavender or tea seed oil, using female Wistar albino rats over 30 days. The NLCs, prepared with Pluronic F127 as a surfactant, showed optimal physicochemical properties, with formulations F2 and F5 having mean particle sizes of 165 nm and 181 nm, respectively, and excellent electrostatic stability. In vivo results indicated that F2 and F5 treatments increased mean hair lengths by 120% and 132% compared to placebo, outperforming a commercial product's 116% increase. The lavender oil formulation notably enhanced hair shaft integrity, demonstrating that these NLCs effectively promote hair regrowth.
