TLDR Dutasteride and minoxidil helped regrow hair in a woman with breast cancer.
The document discussed a case study of a 70-year-old woman with estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer who experienced endocrine therapy-induced alopecia (EIA) after starting tamoxifen treatment. The study highlighted the use of daily oral dutasteride (0.5 mg) combined with topical minoxidil (5%) as a treatment for EIA. After 18 months, the patient showed significant hair regrowth and stabilization of hair loss without adverse effects. The findings suggested that dutasteride, a 5-α reductase inhibitor, could be a promising treatment for EIA in women undergoing estrogen-inhibiting therapies, although larger-scale studies were recommended to further evaluate its efficacy and safety.
