TLDR Adding PRP to hair transplants improves treatment for cicatricial alopecia.
This randomized control study involving 45 patients with secondary cicatricial alopecia compared hair transplantation with and without the use of platelets rich plasma (PRP). Each patient's alopecic area was divided into two halves: one half received hair transplantation without PRP, and the other half received hair transplantation with PRP injections. The results indicated that hair transplantation is an effective treatment for cicatricial alopecia, and the addition of PRP, which contains high concentrations of growth factors, further enhances the treatment's effectiveness.
