This review explores the potential of natural products in Hangeshashinto water extract for directly suppressing stomatitis, a painful oral condition linked to advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). It highlights 19 natural products in the Hangeshashinto water extract and 16 in the crude drug extract, noting that compounds like glycyrrhizin, baicalin, 6-shogaol, quercetin, epigallocatechin-3-galate, and genistein can inhibit intracellular AGE formation and reduce inflammation caused by extracellular AGEs. These findings suggest that Hangeshashinto's natural products may effectively suppress cytotoxicity in stomatitis, offering a promising avenue for treatment.
