TLDR Lower hardiness and resilience in mixed alopecia patients may predict more psychological distress.
The study examines the role of hardiness and resilience in women with metabolic (n=45) and mixed (n=108) alopecia, finding that those with mixed alopecia have significantly lower scores in these areas. Specifically, hardiness and resilience scores were lower in mixed alopecia (21.98±3.54 and 17.05±7.60) compared to metabolic alopecia (26.47±5.05 and 25.36±6.48). A gradient relationship was observed, with decreased hardiness and resilience correlating with increased psychological maladaptation. The study concludes that these factors could predict the severity of psychological distress, advocating for resource-based assessments and interventions to enhance adaptive capacities in alopecia patients.
