TLDR Laser hair removal is effective for hirsutism when combined with treatment for the underlying causes.
A 17-year-old female with severe hirsutism, oligomenorrhea, and obesity was diagnosed with a rare combination of PCOS, NC-CAH, and HAIR-AN syndrome. She was treated with metformin, cyproterone acetate/ethinyl estradiol, and long-pulse alexandrite laser therapy. After four laser sessions and medical treatment, she showed significant improvements in hirsutism, weight loss, self-esteem, and menstrual regularity. The study highlighted the importance of identifying the cause of hirsutism and using evidence-based treatments for effective management.
