    The study examined 31 female patients with androgenetic alopecia to investigate the potential roles of hypothyroidism and hyperprolactinemia. Using the TRH test, researchers measured TSH and PRL levels before and after TRH stimulation. They found that 23% of patients had increased TSH levels, indicating hypothyroidism, and 29% had increased PRL levels, indicating hyperprolactinemia. Overall, 48% of the patients exhibited either condition. The findings suggested that hypothyroidism and hyperprolactinemia might contribute to female androgenetic alopecia by affecting androgen metabolism.
