This study analyzed 5,075 social media posts from 4,061 users in France to assess the impact of alopecia areata (AA) on patients' daily lives. It found that AA significantly affects quality of life, with 66.1% of users experiencing psychological effects such as anxiety and stress, and 52% facing social impacts like loss of self-confidence and social anxiety. Financial burdens due to treatment costs were noted by 35.9% of users. The study identified unmet needs, with stress and emotional shock being primary challenges for 32.1% of users. The research highlights the complex interplay between AA and psychological, social, and financial aspects, emphasizing the need for holistic management and the value of social media as a platform for sharing experiences and informing future research.
