TLDR Low-dose oral minoxidil is effective for alopecia even with other medications.
This retrospective study assessed the impact of medications with antagonistic effects on low-dose oral minoxidil (LDOM) treatment in 71 patients with alopecia. The study found no significant difference in hair growth outcomes between patients using antagonistic medications and those who were not. Both groups showed increases in trichometric width and density, indicating that LDOM remains effective even when patients are on other medications. The study also confirmed the favorable side effect profile of LDOM, with no significant difference in side effects between the groups. These findings suggest that patients can continue their concurrent medications without affecting the efficacy of LDOM in treating alopecia.
