The Impact of Obesity: A Narrative Review

This narrative review discussed the significant negative impact of obesity on human health, emphasizing its association with over 50 medical conditions, many supported by Mendelian randomisation studies indicating causality. Despite its severe consequences, less than half of patients with obesity received weight loss advice from their physicians. The review underscored the substantial clinical, social, and economic burdens of obesity, which could affect future generations. It called for urgent and coordinated efforts in preventing and managing obesity to alleviate its extensive burdens.
