This study investigated the relationship between inflammation and diffuse hair loss (DHL) by measuring inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and TNF-α in 96 DHL patients and 53 healthy controls. Results indicated that patients with DHL had significantly higher serum concentrations of IL-6 and TNF-α compared to healthy controls, with mean IL-6 levels of 20.339±2.893 pg/ml versus 18.122±4.395 pg/ml and TNF-α levels of 48.902±12.987 pg/ml versus 25.616±7.083 pg/ml, both with a p-value of 0.001. The study concludes that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between immune system activation and the pathogenesis of DHL.
