TLDR Isoflavones from soy may help manage multiple sclerosis symptoms, but more research is needed.
This review explores the potential role of isoflavones, primarily found in soy, in treating multiple sclerosis (MS) by examining their anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties. Through a comprehensive literature review from 2000 to 2024, the study highlights isoflavones' mechanisms, such as immune response modulation and antioxidant effects, which may aid in reducing inflammation, enhancing myelin repair, and slowing MS progression. While preclinical data is promising, further research is necessary to evaluate isoflavones as supplemental therapies for managing MS symptoms and progression.
