Japa Pushpa (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis Linn.), traditionally used in Ayurveda for external applications like hair care and wound healing, is now recognized for its internal health benefits when consumed as a herbal tea. The plant's Ayurvedic properties, such as Madhura and Kashaya Rasa, SheetaVeerya, and Pitta-Kapha Shamaka, make it effective against heat, inflammation, and metabolic imbalances. Modern studies reveal its rich phytochemical content, including anthocyanins and flavonoids, which provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and cardiovascular benefits. Regular consumption of hibiscus tea may improve lipid profiles, regulate blood pressure, and enhance glycemic control. The review calls for more clinical studies to standardize therapeutic protocols and explore its potential in preventive and integrative medicine.
