The review explored the role of melatonin (MT) in atopic dermatitis (AD), highlighting its potential as an antioxidant and immunomodulator. AD is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that often leads to sleep disturbances, impacting patients' quality of life. Melatonin, produced by the pineal gland and other tissues, including the skin, is crucial for regulating sleep/wake cycles and possesses strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. These properties may connect the chronic skin inflammation and sleep issues seen in AD. The review aimed to systematically present findings from both experimental and clinical studies on melatonin's effects in AD, suggesting its potential use as a biomarker for disease severity and in developing new therapies.
