TLDR Microneedling and orchiectomy helped treat hair loss in a German Spitz dog.
This study reported a case of a male German Spitz dog with alopecia X, a non-inflammatory and non-pruritic dermatopathy common in Nordic breeds with double coats. The therapeutic approach combined microneedling with orchiectomy. Alopecia X was characterized by gradual hair loss, sparing only the head and the distal parts of the limbs in advanced stages. The etiology and pathogenesis of alopecia X remained unclear, but there were indications of genetic factors associated with the disease.
