TLDR The KRTAP gene family helps understand hair evolution and hair disorders.
The study explored the molecular evolution of the keratin-associated protein (KRTAP) gene family, which is a major component of mammalian hair. It suggested that understanding the phylogenetic development of the KRTAP gene family could shed light on the origin and evolution of mammalian hair. Additionally, the research indicated that comparative genomic and polymorphism data of the KRTAP gene family might offer valuable insights into hair-related disorders in human populations.
