The study demonstrated that Morus alba root extract (MARE) effectively induced the anagen phase in human hair follicle dermal papilla cells (HFDPCs), which is crucial for hair growth. MARE, containing chlorogenic acid and umbelliferone, was not cytotoxic at a 20% concentration and activated β-catenin in HFDPCs, promoting the telogen-to-anagen transition. Additionally, MARE enhanced growth factor secretion, further supporting hair growth. The study also explored the effects of conditioned medium from MARE-treated HFDPCs on keratinocytes and endothelial cells, highlighting MARE's potential as a therapeutic agent for preventing hair loss.
