TLDR Alopecia can be caused by multicentric reticulohistiocytosis.
This clinical case report describes a 52-year-old female with multicentric reticulohistiocytosis (MRH), a systemic inflammatory disease, who developed alopecia. The patient presented with red-brown papules, finger swelling, and muscle pain, and was treated with prednisone, methotrexate, folic acid, and adalimumab. She later experienced progressive hair loss on the frontal scalp, characterized by alopecic patches and follicular drop-out. A scalp biopsy revealed a decrease in follicular units and histiocyte infiltration, leading to a diagnosis of alopecia secondary to MRH. This is the first documented case of alopecia linked to MRH.
