TLDR MSC-derived EVs show promise for therapy, but production and understanding need improvement.
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are important in cell therapy due to their immunomodulatory and regenerative effects, with recent studies highlighting the therapeutic potential of their extracellular vesicles (EVs). These EVs, containing DNA, mRNA, microRNA, and proteins, facilitate intracellular communication and have been applied in tissue repair and immune disorders. However, challenges remain in scaling up EV production and understanding their precise mechanisms. This review summarizes the progress and discusses the challenges and future directions of MSC-derived EVs.
