TLDR Topical immunotherapy is still effective for managing alopecia areata, even with new treatments available.
This case series reports on five patients with chronic alopecia areata who were treated with topical immunotherapy for 9–15 years, alongside other treatments, achieving excellent long-term disease control and safety. The study emphasizes the continued relevance of topical immunotherapy in managing alopecia areata, even with the advent of new treatments like JAK inhibitors. It highlights the importance of individualized, multimodal treatment strategies to optimize patient outcomes, demonstrating that traditional immunotherapy remains a valuable option in the therapeutic landscape of alopecia areata.
