TLDR Myrtus communis leaf extract may help with hair loss and wound healing.
The study explored the impact of Myrtus communis leaf extract on gene expression in HaCaT cells, highlighting its potential benefits for hair loss and wound healing. The extract, rich in phenolic compounds, was found to significantly downregulate the pro-inflammatory gene IL-1α and upregulate the pro-repair gene VEGF, with fold changes of 0.45 and 8.38, respectively. These results suggest that M. communis leaf extract may aid in promoting hair growth and wound healing by modulating inflammation and repair-related gene expressions. Further research is necessary to fully understand the mechanisms and interactions of the extract's components.
