Nanostructure Lipid Carrier Technology in Drug Delivery: Route of Administration, Preparation Method, Characterization, and Application for Anti-Aging

Nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC) technology in drug delivery systems shows significant promise for enhancing therapeutic efficacy, stability, and bioavailability, particularly in anti-aging cosmetic applications. This systematic review analyzed 53 relevant papers and highlighted NLC's advantages across various administration routes, including oral, topical, parenteral, and transmucosal. NLCs improve drug penetration through the skin, cornea, and brain, and are particularly effective in delivering anti-aging drugs by protecting and controlling the release of active ingredients, reducing skin irritation, and enhancing penetration to the dermis layer. This technology offers new opportunities for developing effective anti-aging cosmetic products.
