TLDR Accurate diagnosis of NLS with dilated hair follicles is crucial to distinguish it from other conditions.
The document described two cases of Nevus Lipomatosus Superficialis (NLS) with unique features of dilated hair follicles. Patient 1, a 20-year-old man, had soft papules and nodules on his buttock and waist, with histopathology revealing ectopic adipose tissue and cystically dilated hair follicles. Patient 2, a 21-year-old man, had a flesh-colored plaque on his lower back, with histopathology showing infiltration of adipose tissue and cystic structures in the dermis. The study highlighted the importance of differentiating NLS from nevus comedonicus, as the latter does not present with ectopic adipose tissue. Accurate diagnosis through histopathology was emphasized due to the broad variety of clinical features in NLS.
