TLDR A new peptide, DualPep-ALO, may help hair growth by reducing inflammation and boosting growth factors.
The study explores DualPep-ALO, a novel synthetic cell-penetrating peptide, for its potential to promote hair growth by enhancing the follicular microenvironment and stimulating regenerative pathways. DualPep-ALO was chosen from over 200 peptides for its ability to proliferate human follicle dermal papilla cells and activate Wnt/β-catenin and ERK signaling. It showed significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, suppressing cytokines like TNF-α and IL-6, and promoting hair follicle elongation and anagen phase maintenance in ex vivo human scalp tissue. Additionally, it upregulated growth factors VEGF, HGF, and EGF, with outcomes comparable to minoxidil. These findings suggest DualPep-ALO as a promising topical agent for hair loss, warranting further clinical trials to confirm its efficacy and safety.
